KEISER OFFERS 20% TRADE-IN DISCOUNT TO FACILITIES THAT DONATE USED EQUIPMENT TO NON-PROFIT ORGANZATIONS

(Fresno, CA; May 2002)-Keiser is now offering a 20% discount on all new Keiser equipment to facilities that donate their used Keiser equipment to non-profit organizations in their communities. "Facilities looking to upgrade can take advantage of the new equipment discount," says Darrin Pelkey, Keiser VP of Sales and Marketing, "and feel good about helping their communities in the process."

Since Keiser's announcement this month, three non-profit organizations have begun to benefit from the trade-in program. Donations of used Keiser are helping the non-profits provide much-needed strength training programs for older adults.

Two facilities are making equipment donations to support the expanding partnership between the Milwaukee County Department on Aging and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences, Department of Human Kinetics. Willowbrook Health Club recently donated 11 pieces of used Keiser fitness equipment to outfit the Grobschmidt Center in the city of South Milwaukee. This May, Heartland Spa, one of the nation's top destination spas, will donate 11 pieces of Keiser to the Milwaukee County Department on Aging as well. "We make a difference in thousands of peoples lives each year," says Mary Quinn, Heartland's executive director. "So, we were pleased to make a donation that has the potential to improve the wellness of so many Milwaukee seniors." Equipment donations from Willowbrook and Heartland Spa will open strength training/fitness rooms at two additional senior centers.

According to Linda Cieslik, Ph.D., Department on Aging Program Coordinator for Community Health, "These most generous donations have been an essential part of our ability to expand fitness programs for underserved older adults in our community." Since 1991, the Milwaukee County Department on Aging has been providing health and fitness programming free of charge to county elders at community based senior center sites. In 2000, the Department received a grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services that allowed them to purchase the first set of exercise equipment-a new Keiser strength training line--for the Washington Park Senior Center. "The donations," says Cieslik, "have also insured that we can offer quality service learning opportunities as we train the next generation of fitness professionals to be responsive to older adult needs."

Regence Blue Shield Employee Health in Seattle, Washington State recently donated a total of 13 pieces of used Keiser strength training equipment to Bayview Manor and Wesley Homes-two local retirement facilities in Washington State. Nita Fulwiler of more..

Wesley Homes says that "The residents have been very excited and encouraged by the "new" pieces of equipment we received. We had only been able to purchase one of the Keiser machines so far. This is a wonderful program."

Celicia Yeoman, community relations coordinator, leads Regence Blue Shield Employee Health's volunteer work and a committee of employees who decide where corporate contributions should go. "This is great," Yeoman said. "We are always looking for ways to give back to the community that we serve. Keiser has come up with an approach that gives companies that want to donate their equipment to non-profit organizations an added incentive to do so."

Local Keiser sales representatives will gladly direct you to not-for-profit facilities in your community that would benefit from used equipment donations. For more information on Keiser's new discount program, please call 1-800-888-7009.
